Alternative Medicine Brewing Company, which opened in December 2022, is closing Dec. 28th.
The news was posted on Instagram saying the realities of running a small business have caught up with the microbrewery. “While we’ve poured our hearts and souls into AMBC, we simply don’t have the resources to keep going,” reads the post.
This is the second beer spot to close in less than a month. Sim Coe Beer Bar, in Scarsdale for two years, is ending its run Dec. 27. Both Sim Coe’s Jeff Spychala and AMBC owners wrote on social media the “heavy heart” it took to get them to this place.
“Five years ago we set out to build a brewery in a disused space in Mount Vernon, brew some rad beer, and create an inviting space where people come could together and have a good time,” said AMBC’s Jordan Hahn and Tom Ryan.
“We’ve had some incredible moments from the release of our first batch of DDH IPA to rocking out at festivals and collaborating with amazing breweries. We’ve met so many wonderful people who have become like family…we’ll miss you all dearly.”
Dining changes in Scarsdale:Two places close but a sandwich shop is coming
The industrial looking brewery/bar, located in a city building that dates to 1903, features original floors, brick, and exposed steel, boasting a long bar, an arched private area, high-tops, tables, bumper pool table and a bookshelf filled with games.
Through Dec. 28th, they’ll be pouring some of their “best beers” including some rarities and a couple of new releases, specifically Parisian Gold, Hahn’s first (and last) lager, a French-hopped pilsner collab with StiffFire Brewing and Dark Prophecy, an imperial stout brewed with luxardo maraschino cherries.
They’ll also be offering discounted beer until they run dry.
